Except for the ·former Commissions for Climatology, Hydrometeorology and , to some extent, Synoptic Meteorology, which have been modified to become respectively Mr. M. F . Taha, newlyelected President of WMO , during the session of the Executive Committee following the Sixth WMO Congress the Commission for Special Applications of Meteorology and ClimatoJogy, the Commission for Hydrology and the Commission for Basic Systems, the functions of the technical commissions have not undergone considerable changes, nor have their· names been changed significantly. Congress decided that it was logical for the presidents and vice-presidents to continue to act in their present capacities.
